Joseph J. Nikischer, 93, of Clifton died Wednesday, December 6, 2023 in Wayne, NJ.
Born in Clifton, he was a lifelong resident. He retired from Passaic Rubber Co. of Clifton. After retirement, he was the owner of J. Michael’s Florist of Botany Village in Clifton.
Mr. Nikischer was a Veteran of the United States Army during the Korean War followed by serving his reserve time with the New Jersey National Guard. He was a member of American Legion Post #347 of Clifton; Past President and Hall of Fame member of the Garfield Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps; a founding member of Clifton’s Historic Botany District and a member of the Botany Village Merchants Association.
He was predeceased by his wife, the former Arlene Petrovich; his parents, Alexander and Karolina (nee Legath) Nikischer; his brother, John Nikischer and his two sisters, Mary Hiel and Caroline Nicholas.
Survivors include: his two sons, Joseph M. Nikischer of Bloomfield, Jon J. Nikischer and his wife, Kimberly of Lopatcong Township, NJ; his three grandchildren, Lauren Husted and her husband, Bryan, Jon Nikischer and Makayla Deemer; and his three great grandchildren, Landen, Caroline and Valerie Husted.
Visitation will be from 4-8 pm on Friday, Dec. 8, 2023 at Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 515 Lexington Ave., Clifton, NJ 07011. The funeral will be at 9:30 am Saturday at the funeral home followed by interment at Calvary Cemetery, Paterson.
