Caroline Scardelli Obituary

Caroline DeFlumeri Scardelli gained her angel wings on October 22, 2024, in Sarasota, Florida, at the inspiring age of 99 and a half.

Born in 1925 in Lyndhurst, New Jersey, Caroline was the second oldest of seven sisters. Growing up in a musical family, Caroline sang and played piano from a young age. Her talent led her to perform on the radio and at local community events.

Caroline’s sweet spirit, natural beauty, and musical nature caught the eye of Orazio “Harry” Scardelli— a fellow musician and avid violinist. Harry and Carrie soon married and raised three sons, Ray, James, and Daniel. After Harry’s passing in 1992, she dedicated her life to her role as the Matriarch of the growing Scardelli family.

From summers down the shore on the Barnegat Bay to family vacations in Italy and beyond, Caroline lived a life full of family and love. She welcomed seven grandchildren, Cara, Joel, Josiah, Nick, Darrin, Larell, and Alyssa, and, eventually, 10 great-grandchildren.

Caroline was a bright, optimistic spirit, always ready to help. She taught the Scardelli family to love unconditionally, make incredible spaghetti sauce, and see the wonder in this world. Her spirit will continue to be a pillar for our family. She will live in our hearts forever.
